Biography

Dr. Douglas Frankel, a Washingtonian Top Doctor, attended Syracuse University, University Mexico Americana Del Norte School of Medicine and completed his training in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital Medical College, NY Hospital Medical Center of Queens and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is also board certified in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Frankel has extensive experience as an Emergency physician in top hospitals from New York to Washington, DC. He founded Capital Medical Partners (formerly Metropolitan Med Trauma Group) in Maryland so that he could deliver both primary care as an internist and specialty care (Emergency/Trauma/Sports Medicine) as a certified specialist. He is also a Police Surgeon.

Dr. Frankel’s passion for academic medicine is illustrated by his commitment to teaching and his participation in research. He enjoys teaching medical students as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and has also served as the Program Director for Advanced Cardiac Life Support courses at University College of Southern Maryland. Dr. Frankel has participated in medical research involving diseases such as hypertension, osteoarthritis and heart attack prevention. He is a professional sports trauma physician and is a ringside physician for the State of Maryland Athletic Commission since 1995.

Personal Interests

Dr. Frankel is married to a pediatrician and they both believe in donating their services to community causes. They both serve as board members for Madison House Autism Foundation where they are helping to advance improving primary care for adult patients on the autism spectrum. The Drs. Frankel have three children.

When not doctoring, Dr. Frankel’s favorite pastimes are his photography hobby, attending boxing matches, and spending time with his family at the beach.
